Waiting until the first US

Any tips on refocusing your thoughts while waiting for that first ultrasound and confirmation that everything is okay?   With my mc, I didn't have an u/s until 12 weeks and I mc at 10w6d, but baby's heart had stopped around 6w and I didn't know it until weeks later.  This is really stressing me out this time around. 

Since my OB doesn't do a first appointment until 12w, I made an ultrasound appointment through my regular doctor for 8w. I am getting so worked up about what I hope to see at the 8w.  This is so hard!  I'm trying not to stress about it, because in reality, there isn't anything I can do but wait, it's just very emotional.

Wow, I'm rambling! Sorry. Just needed to get it out.

I watched lots of tv to keep me distracted. Scrubs in particular. This first bit can feel like forever I know.

The wait is very hard. I tried to keep myself busy at work, going out with friends, etc. The busier I am, the faster the time passes. I did it for the majority of first tri to pass the time. You could always call for betas like the pp said.

I honestly don't remember how I made it through. I know I peed on like 3 Wondfos a day and obsessively compared the darkness to the previous days, but I wouldn't technically recommend that. while they did get darker for me,I know some people never really saw the darker lines and had very viable pregnancies.

I'm in a very similar boat as you. We had a blighted ovum, and didn't know until the miscarriage at 11 weeks that Little One had stopped growing. Until we hear/see the heartbeat or see the sac with a baby inside, it's really hard to think about the future.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to talk my doctor into giving me an ultrasound when we go at 8 weeks. Her nurse said that they'll decide that day whether or not to do it. I want to be guaranteed NOW that they will!

So, I don't have much advice about how to pass the time, only here to say that I can relate!

As for the wait, there's nothing that makes it easy, but I always remind myself that this pregnancy has nothing to do with the last one, the odds are in my favor, and everything is fine until proven otherwise. I still repeat that to myself over and over on the hard days. Good luck getting through, I'd hate to have to wait until 12w!!
