Irritation

Anyone have a suggestion for my LO that has some irritation on the folds of her neck? I know it has got to be from formula. She's a sloppy eater and drools her formula everywhere. I always clean her after every feeding but sometimes it's hard to wipe her in that area because she fusses.

Re: Irritation

  • Yup. You gotta keep it as clean and dry as possible. Needs to be cleaned every day and wiped dry throughout the day. If not she can develop a fungus... gross! I use a little squirt bottle from the hospital to clean off the soap really good and as far as the crying... well you know whats best. She has no clue what youre doing. She will get used to it! :)

  • I feel like I get to it as best as I can... Wondering If she gots hot and sweaty there too.... Buy now that it is a little irritated what can I put on it? Or should I leave it alone?
  • Putting A&D or vaseline on it would probably help.

  • I would say it needs to be dry, not wet. So I would try a lil baby powder

  • L's folds in her neck get a little red sometimes.. I try to really get it at bath time. Of course she hates it and acts like we are choking her or something. I know some of the moms on my BMB use aquaphor but I haven't tried it. If it gets real red would I would call the pedi.

  • I've tried both powder and vaseline. My ped said you can do desitin too... But it has to be completely dried with a towel before you put cream on it. Otherwise you are just trapping moisture in. Powder you need to be careful with because it can get into Lo's lungs. Put some in your hand then spread it on neck. I live in FL so sweaty neck folds are a common issue! It will get better when LO haS more neck control.
