Hi all... just wanted to say hi since I am now expecting a preemie and thought I may get some perspective visiting this board.

To explain: I have been in the hospital since Wednesday.  Originally checked in at 1cm dilated, 2.7 thickness & head high.  Now 3cm dilated, 1.5 thickness & head -2.

I am 28w6d.  Was able to complete 48 hours from first steroid shots today.  Woohoo! 

But my doctors are pretty sure we should still expect a preemie (how preemie who knows...).  At this moment I am 28w6d.

They sent a NICU doc to give me and my husband some perspective and that simultaneously stressed and relaxed me.  

My doctor feels like every day from here is something I should be thankful for, so that is something DH and I are trying to embrace....

And with that- I am about to have another cervical exam.... wish me luck!

    Lots of luck!  Getting past 28 weeks is a great milestone in terms of survival and long term outcomes.  Your doc is right, every day your LO stays inside is important.

    Thank you so much for your positive feedback.  

     Honestly, I was really relived to discover this board as things have been starting to wear on me (today is day 4 in the hospital...and I just don't know what to expect!).

     Thank you for welcoming me!

    Hello and welcome - your doctor is right: every single day counts for so much! Please feel free to ask us whatever is on your mind. I imagine it's a lot. NICU and PTL is a rollercoaster and while it's hard to prepare for - you're doing everything you can and that's great :)

    Praying everything goes swimmingly for you, the hubs, and LO.  While under different circumstances (pre-e/HELLP), I had a preemie last year at 32 weeks.  I know how scary the waiting game can be, but it is really important to stay as calm as possible, which it sounds like you are.  Best of luck to you!
