My son's stump fell off when he was a week old. He is now 2 weeks old and I noticed his belly button looks bloody. Is this normal?

DD's belly button was a bit bloody with some puss for about a week as well. the doctor cleaned it up with a Q-tip and some alcohol.

Yeah, just clean it out gently with some baby soap and water.

This happened with my DS as well. His pedi put some black tarry looking stuff in his belly button that he said would "seal it off because there was a raw spot in there." It didn't seem to hurt him and it hasn't leaked anything since.
