No school next week and we're going on vacation, so here's the last check-in for two weeks. I finished up our rainbow theme (so, so, so fun - you've gotta try it!). Halloween is coming up and fall themes are so easy! I've seen lots of cookie cutters and sprinkles in my grocery store lately. Now is the time to buy sprinkle mixes that have black in them - great for using as pupils, and it's the only time of year you can find them.
PINK in our new pink Lego box! Four mini sealed pink jam sandwiches with a hula girl pick and some raspberries. In the bottom tier are apples (red + white = pink), pink cookies and a container of blueberries. On the side is a pink smoothie.
Purple! I'm madly in love with this one! The idea didn't come to me until I was almost done with the lunch - I'm not always prepared! PBJ sandwich with cheese/picks/sprinkles/cupcake toppers. The little heart teeth are my favorite, but the container of raisin "people" is a close second. There's also blueberry yogurt-covered pretzels, a few of the baby's yogurt melts, grapes and blueberries.
Brown - sock monkey! His ears are a little covered but he's still cute. I made him with a circle cutter plus a monkey-shaped cutter for his mouth area (the ears were cut off that part and added to his head - that sounds AWFUL lol!). Raspberries, Snapea Crisps and steamed broccoli with a cute little tree pick. I asked DD in advance if she'd eat cold broccoli and she said yes - and she finished all of it!
Black/white - the end of the rainbow lunches. Panda using my new panda sandwich sealer - the facial details are made from my highly professional method of melting chocolate chips in the microwave and squeezing them on through a Ziploc bag. The sandwich sealer is from allthingsforsale.com. That tier also contains Snapea Crisps, an Oreo and blueberries. The top tier has (some very red) black plums, raisins and a chopped up string cheese.
Owl! I made it with an egg-shaped cutter for the body and a round cutter for the belly - then I flipped around that piece of bread for a texture difference. The googly eyes are a pick I found in the Halloween section of Walmart. Cheese details on the body, plus a few Snapea Crisps and tomatoes. In the other layer (it's a new Lego box from allthingsforsale.com) are plums, cucumbers and Angry Bird crackers. DD has a half day today and will be eating incredibly early (9:45 a.m. lunch!!) so I wanted to keep her meal small.
Have a great week and I'll see you again in two weeks!
