Diaper Rash

My son is about 5weeks old and has once again has another diaper rash. I have been changing him more and using desitine. But tonight when I changed him it cracked and he started to bleed just a little. Not sure what to do because I wont be able to get him in to see the doc until monday morning.

Re: Diaper Rash

  • The same thing happened with my son and I put neosporin and then the anti monkey butt. I used desitin and it didn't seem to work. Good luck!

  • Desitin didn't work for me, dd acted like it burned. I had a sample of the all natural butt paste and tried that and dd didn't scream when I put on her bottom and with in a few hours it was clearing up, and gone with in 24 hours. I think different kinds work better for than another sometime. Maybe try another kind and see.

Also a friend I know had a nicu nurse tell her to keep a hair dryer at changing table and after changing blow with the cool button to dry off before putting diaper on. My sister has done this her lo is going to be 11 months next week and hasn't had any diaper rashes since she dries him.

    IT'S A GIRL

  • Our pedi told us to make sure to let him "air out" at each diaper change. Put a towel under him, and lay him on his tummy for a little naked bum time (just a couple minutes does wonders!). Also, have you tried using A&D instead of desitin? It has a different active ingredient, so it might work better for your ds?

  • Triple paste is really good too!

  • I do let him air dry for a few minutes when i change him. Ive even soaked him in a bath. But I think I will have to try using A&D or something. Thanks! Im hoping it will clear up before Monday so I dont have to take him to the doc

  • Agree with all PP...let him have some bare bum time.  I know they say not to, but I've used a tiny bit of baby powder, you just have to make sure it doesn't go all over the place because it's bad if they inhale it and it gets into their lungs.  I've also heard you can add some baking soda to the bath and soak them in it.  As for ointment...I've heard that Desitin actually isn't all the great.  I've used Butt Paste and it's been great!  Good luck, diaper rash is no fun!

This! I had gotten a sample of it thank goodness cause I'd never heard of it before! I put it on DD and her diaper rash was gone the next day!
