FF question

For you FF mamas out there, this may sound like a stupid question- FTM here...

when you are preparing bottles for your LO are you warming them? Our newborn care class said it isnt necessary, but I am wondering if doing this may help our LO sleep better- you know the old adage of the warm glass of milk?  Right now, we are just taking the chill off but not actually warming the formula, and I think more often than we would like she actually gets it cold because she is so anxious to eat.

If anyone has advice or experience, I am all ears!!!

EDIT: i should add she eats ready to feed formula that is refrigersted

 TIA!!!!

Re: FF question

  • I am using room temp water and making bottles as she needs them. I don't warm anything!

  • I don't even warm it to room temp. My little guy takes it cold straight out of the fridge. He actually does worse with room temp bottles, and in the nicu they tried warming them and he refused to take more than 10 mL.

This is what we do too. I try to make it fresh with room temp water but mostly he gets them cold.

  • For me it really just depends on if she's throwing a fit over eating or not. If she is hungry and crying then I don't heat it but if she seems fine I'll take the time to. She likes it both ways, which is great bc when we're out I can just keep her bottles in an ice pack and not have to worry about anything.

  • I use warm water because she's fussy about her bottles. I never needed to warm DS bottles when he was a baby.

  • We give it to him straight from the fridge. If its room temp or warmed he spits it out.

My mom is absolutely mortified by this. She says back in the day they always warmed bottles. I joke and say he prefers his drinks ice cold just like her.

This is what I do also. DD never had a problem with it.

  • Thanks everyone we are feeding her the ready to feed silimac so it's either ice cold or I have to warm it up. So far ice cold or semi cold doesn't seem to bother her, but I really need her to sleep more in a day and I guess wishful thinking on my part that if I warmed it up maybe it would help!!! Today she has only slept for 10 hours total. We see the pediatrician tomorrow so def something I will bring up.
  • Ours is either cold or room temperature. I actually think he likes it better cold because he has reflux and it feels good on his throat.
  • DS doesn't like his bottles warm at all. Cold or lukewarm is good for him though.
