NICU Benefit Walk - Team Photo (PIP)

Here is our team photo for a recent NICU benefit, Walk for Babies, for Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio. This is both sets of Grandparents, along with me, my husband, and our two preemies (but only one NICU graduate). Our team is called, "Power to the Peep" and this is our third walk. Our DD, Zoey, arrived at 25w2d and spent 96 days in the NICU. So inspiring to see the preemies of all ages and the families who are still faithful to our memories in the NICU. Had to share some good energy!

Was this the one at Akron Zoo?!! We are also from the area and DD did her NICU stay at children's. We had a wedding that weekend, I was sad we missed it! Great picture!!!

Yes, and thank you!  The walk is in the Akron Zoo.  If you can make it next year, it is wonderful.  The NICU nurses and a few of the Neonatologists and other staff are there.  There is an award ceremony where a NICU family shares their story, and pretty much everyone is happy crying in the end.  Really awesome.  When were you and your LO in the NICU?

That sounds amazing!!!! Now I am really bummed we missed it! DD was born march 6th of this year, she was in the NICU for 55 days. She was 31 weeker. We had a wonderful experience at children's. I would love to see some of the neo's and nurses!

I'm from the area too. I delivered my LO at fairview. I'm also wondering of they do something like this?? Funny that's quite a few of us from the area!

Do the other local mamas mean Fairview Hospital up near Cleveland, Ohio?  That is part of the Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital network, I think.  I vaguely recall that they had a walk in the past year and I think it was put on by the hospital.  Beyond the fact that I have the most connection to Akron Children's, I think it is also unique that this walk is organized by a NICU family who had a child in the Akron Children's NICU seven years ago.  So, it has a little different feeling than when a formal organization might run this type of event.  Not necessarily better, just different.  Glad to see more mamas in my area!

Yeah, fairview in Cleveland. Fairview is a Cleveland Clinic hospital. Rainbow babies is UH right?

That sounds right.  Sorry about that!  Those systems kind of run together for me.  You might want to check with your NICU about these kind of walks.  As previous posts also said, there are also March of Dimes walks that are close to most of us, too.  Staying connected has been very helpful for us as we are still healing nearly four years later.

I wonder when they put out the dates for the 2013 March of Dimes walks. Im so looking forward to getting a big group together for the Cleveland walk!
