I plan on BFing until at least a year and then I'm going to try to go to 18 months. Pumping is so part of my life now, I almost forgot what it was like without it!
Me! My original goal was to make it to 1 year, which isn't far away. Now my new goal is to bf through the winter cold/flu season, which would put DD at about 15 months. After that I'll let her decide if she wants to continue. I will try to wean from the pump by the end of the year (right now I'm pumping 3x a day at work) and just nurse at night and first thing in the morning.
I am still BFing! I intend to wean on his first birthday. 31 days to go!
How are you doing this? Have you already started giving formula? Or do you mean you are going to START weaning on his bday?
I am asking because I'm trying to figure out a plan to have DS weaned by 1 or so.
I like the idea of nursing through the cold and flu season, so we probably won't stop until after 18 months or so. I hope to follow his lead with some gentle nudges.
We are! One year is my minimum requirement. Beyond that, we will wean when LO is ready. I don't see that happening anytime soon. It's such a great way to start and end the day. Plus, it's reassuring to know he's getting regular doses of vitamins and antibodies. I worry less about him getting sick or not getting the nutrients he needs if he decides to go through a picky eating phase.
We are! I am planning on starting the process of weaning at 12 months ( introducing WCM) and to be finished by 13 months. A year way always my ultimate goal, and I'm so proud of us

I'm curious about this process too. Currently DD gets about 6-8oz of formula (out of about 24 oz, and all but one feeding is from a bottle). I don't want to go to all formula. I guess my plan at 1 year was to start transitioning to no formula and mix the breastmilk with cow's milk until the bottles are all cow's milk. I'll let her have the early AM nursing for a while longer. I don't mind that session, but I am SO ready to be done pumping at work. I have 2 more weeks to figure it all out. :-)
I'm a SAHM mom so it is easy for me to continue as long as he likes, I think I'll see where we are at in the spring since we are thinking of TTC #3 in the summer. I admire all those mothers who are still pumping while at work! Pumping is so hard for me and thankfully not necessary but there is no way I could still be doing it if I had to pump all day! Not nearly enough milk! Kudos!
DS is 10 months and still BFing. As of now I'm willing to nurse until at least age 2. I might possibly choose to stop if we get anxious to TTC again and I haven't gotten my period back, since we'd like another pregnancy any time after he turns 1. It makes me sad to think of him weaning though.
I'm still breastfeeding, but slowly weaning from the pump. I already dropped 1 pump session and will drop another tomorrow.
For right now, he's still on all breastmilk (either from me or from what I'm still pumping). Once I wean from all the pumping sessions I'll still have a fairly good freezer stash to keep him on breastmilk until the end of the month.
Once the freezer stash is gone, he'll get WCM at daycare during the day and we'll continue nursing when we're together. I'm not sure for how long, I'm taking it day by day and seeing how my supply holds up.
Weaned from the pump and just am/0m nurse. Wasnt as hard as i was stressing about it. Lo Is 11m today! Starting wcm soon. Tried it tonight and he loved it!

I figure we'll go through the cold/flu season, but I will start on WCM during the workday soon. I did this w/ DD1 and DS as well. I'm only pumping 1 time per day at this point b/c I still nurse at lunch as she doens't take a midmorning bottle anymore.
I went to 15 months w/ DD1 (which gradually went down after she was a year to just am and pm nursing) and 17 months w/ DS.
Hard to believe how many months of nursing I have across all 3 kids!
Me! LO has MSPI so I am really hoping that he's over it when we test him next month. I have basically been starving 24 hours a day for 11 months straight. If he is, I'd like to go to 18 months or so. If he's not, I'll probably BF to at least 2 as none of the milk alternatives seem to have decent nutritional benefits compared to breastmilk and WCM.
I have four more weeks of carrying my "modela pump in style" to and from work every day . . . 3 hours/day pumping every day . . . I am so ready to be done. Will probably continue one evening feeding for a while, but I am quitting pumping at a year, will also then introduce cows milk.
My son will be 9 mo this week and I'm still exclusively BFing (he's taken 1 1/2 bottles of formula over the last 1 1/2 weeks). I'm trying to wean but it's not a huge success. Actually I started trying to wean him at 5 mo, with my goal being 6 mo. But yet, here we are! Lol. No regrets, but I'm ready for him to wean now. Hoping to have him weaned by 10 mo. We'll see! (I LOATHE pumping)
I still am but I'm dropping my pumping sessions because it's become pitiful since I've become pregnant. I'll probably start weaning DD when she's about a year.
Re: How many of us are still breastfeeding?
so far, so good.
nursed the older boy until he was 2 ... we'll see how this goes.
