I'm thinking about using the name Keir for our little guy. Keigher (different spelling pronounced the same) was my mom's maiden name (she recently passed) so I love the idea of using the name in her honor and I absolutley love the way it sounds. Here's where I'm stuck - I can't think of any MN to go with it. Any ideas?
Also thoughts on spelling Keir vs. Keigher?
Thanks
Re: Keir?
That's tough- I think Keir in the first name spot will be easier to pronounce for people, but Keigher honours your mom better. In the mn spot I would definitely go for Keigher, but I don't know about the first name.
Ciaran (pronounced Keer-an, v. similar to Keir/Keigher) is at the top of my boy list and I would pair it with Patrick, Frederick, James, or Robert. I'd go with a multi-syllable name for a mn.
That's what I thought, but wanted to be sure.
Keir Michael
Keir Edward
Keir Nathaniel
Keir Thomas
Keir Vincent
Keir Alexander
That's a tough one, but I think a 2-3 syllable middle name will work. Not many people will like this name, I don't think, but I love the significance.
I personally like the look of Keir better, and I think it looks more masculine. Love the fact that you are honoring your Mom's side.
Keir Nathaniel, Keir Alexander, Keir Thomas, Keir William, Keir Anderson, Keir Benjamin, Keir Joshua, Keir Jonathan, Keir Matthias,
It seems that Keir would need a longer middler name...
I like Keir. Not a fan of the other spelling.
No ideas on MN. Only Keir I knew, was Keir Kerr. I like the flow of that. Maybe something short one sylable or lastnames that double as first names (i.e. Harrison, Parker, ...)
Gosh, I just think that every time someone asks what his name is, they are going to be like "what?" and then he'll have to spell it, or say "keir, like fear, with a K"
how about.......Keith? If anything I'd use the full Keigher
I agree with this and also think James would be a good MN.
I like the MNs suggested above.
This really isn't a big deal. I have an uncommon name that I typically have to spell and it doesn't bother me at all. That said, I know a Keir and I think it's a cool name. I prefer that spelling and think it still honors your mom given your reason for choosing it.
The third time was the charm!
