How long to swaddle?

Just wondering how long everyone swaddled their preemies... Cora's 5 months actual/3 months adjusted and people act like I'm crazy to still be swaddling her lol. I've tried a few times to go without it at night and she'd stay up forever fussing, but then I woke up this morning and she was flipped on to her belly still swaddled. So she at least needs an arm out now. Any advice?

I'm fairly certain that if a babe can flip, it's time to stop swaddling for safety issues. Otherwise - for us - we stopped swaddling when he was 4 mo/2 adj if I remember right. It was about a month after he came home and it was very hot in our apt. He likes to stretch out and still doesn't care for blankets.

I stopped swaddling DD#2 around 2 months old, she basically started to break out of her swaddle. You may want to try sleep sacks.

Ds1 loved the swaddle. He wouldn't nap without it. We did it until about 8 to 9 months. His arms were free from about 4 to 5 months.

ETA. Mobile site issues.

I stopped when they could roll over.  I never really kept their arms swaddled anyway because they hated it.

If she can roll it's time to unswaddle. My LO was fighting the swaddle but both arms out was too much for her so we did one arm for awhile.  We have had both arms out now for about 2 weeks so 4.5 months actual/3.5 adjusted.  We used the Halo swaddlers and she still fits in the newborn size so we have the swaddle wings around her waist.  We will do sleep sacks when she fits into them.

We swaddled both arms until 6 or 7 months. Then we moved to one arm out, for transition. I don't know if that was necessary, but it made sense to me at the time.
