taking LO to a funeral home?

A really good friend of mine lost her father on Monday.  Visitation tonight and funeral tomorrow morning.  I can't make the funeral, but want to try to go to the funeral home tonight, but would have to take LO with me.  Good idea or no?

  • Maybe you can go right when it is starting before a lot of people get there. Then you will have paid your respect and can leave whenever you need after that. Even if it's quick, your friend will appreciate it.

  • I'm sorry to hear of your friend's loss. I think you should be fine taking LO. Agree with PP to head in early to get out quickly. I bet she'll bring a little ray of sunshine so you might be doing a service to your friend and her family.

  • I took M to my uncle's a few weeks ago and it was fine. Either me or MH held onto him so he wasn't running all over, plus I packed some snacks quiet toys. If you do want to stay for a little while, you could always run out to grab your stroller after you've paid your respects stay toward the back then. If not, I think you're fine to take her.
  • DD came with us to all of DH's grandma's services when she was 8 months old. Now, it was a close family member, so it was a no brainer, but I don't see anything wrong with bringing your LO.

  • I guess asking this question has turned out to be pointless as I am still stuck at work awaiting a phone call.  Irritated.
