Ok, so yesterday I was in the bathroom and DD came in. (I never get to go in peace) She started counting and asked me to count with her. I was a bit distracted and said no, not right now and she says, "Count or everyone will laugh at you." I have no clue where she gets this! Her counting is not great, but we never laugh at her. I asked her if her teacher told her this and she said no. I asked her who told her this and she says, "No one". I don't want her to think people will laugh at her!!!! I am going to ask her teacher, but I doubt her teacher said that. It made me sad!!!
Re: Daughter's comments sometimes concern me.
I would've been bothered by that comment too. Unfortunately, who knows where they hear stuff like that. Some other kid on the playground? TV?
All you can do is correct her and let her know that you don't say such things nor laugh at people. And of course, no one should be saying that or laughing at her.
Kids do say the darndest things!
