LO has been sleeping 5 to 6 hours everynight for a few weeks now. Then, on Monday she was awake all night screaming and crying...she slept maybe 2 hours and it wasn't a solid 2 hours, it was split up. Tuesday night she slept 9:30-3:30...I fed her at 3:30 and she stayed awake until 5:45. Last night she slept 9:30-11...woke up screaming and for the rest of the night slept in 20-30 minute increments unless we were holding her. The babysitter said there haven't been any changes during the day, and in the evenings she's her happy smiley self. DH and I both work, and I'm exhausted. Advice?

Re: Change in sleeping
Could it be gas? A burp? A stuffy nose? Is something different about the area she's sleeping in (different sounds, temperature, different pjs?)? You could try gripe water if she's bucking and arching her back, in case it is a burp or trapped gas.
I've had a problem with my LO's sleep all this week but it's because he has a really stuffy nose and he's having trouble breathing through his nose and so he's not sleeping well. I've just been using the little sucker thingy and saline drops but there's really not much else I can do until he gets better.
If you ticker is correct and she is almost 4 months old, I would venture to guess that it is the four-month wakeful where babies tend to have a growth spurt plus they change from newborn sleep pattern of deep to light to adult sleep, which is light to deep, plus they are increasingly social and want to be part of everything. While the only thing ever consistent about baby sleep is that it changes, the 4MW is particularly brutal. It will pass on its own as baby gets used to dealing with distraction while dozing off.
ETA- I just realized she is a preemie, so I don't know if that is it, or not.
