Eczema Sufferers

So, I have dealt with eczema for several years due to allergies. Recently a friend suggested I try using coconut oil, and it has helped tremendously! I just use it after my shower and any time I feel a bit itchy, and it has basically cleared things up! So if you or your LO's are looking for something to try (trust me, I've tried EVERYTHING) definitely test it out!

Re: Eczema Sufferers

  • I actually found it at Publix in the oils/shortening section. I think it would be in a lot of larger grocery stores, but I've seen it at Whole Foods and natural supply stores too. And also, the interwebs.

  • Thanks! I'll try anything that might work. Oliver's eczema is an ongoing problem.  We go to the allergist later this month, so I'm hoping to get some answers.

  • Yes!  I also have issues with eczema and I recently just tried coconut oil on my own and it definitely worked wonders!

They have it at Trader Joes.

Also, coconut oil is good to feed dogs and helps with fleas and skin allergies.  You can apply it topically or you can put it in their food.

    Coconut oil rocks!

  • I've had eczema since I was about 5 years old. And not even coconut oil worked for me :( I just use aveeno lotion to stop the itchiness and wait for it to go away on it's own.

I also use  Neosporin's new eczema care line as well. Lotion/soap/cortisone cream. It helps, but doesn't cure. Have you tried it?

  • I was reading that since eczema can be caused by so many different things, if you eat a little coconut oil (bake with it, use it in food, etc.) it can help as well. Doubling up on it topically and internally is incredibly helpful. And be sure to get the 100% oil, not anything with additives.

  • We actually use coconut oil as a diaper rash cream when LO gets a bad one.  I never thought to use it on his eczema.  He has had a horrible flare up recently.  I found a giant jar of 100% pure coconut oil at Walmart in the cooking oil section for $10 a while back.
