Hi! This is my first time posting, I've been lurking for a while!
So my LO has finally given us good stretches at night (10-4, 5 or so). After he wakes up I bring him into the living room to nurse, which takes about 45 minutes in the cross-cradle hold, and then we lie down together on the couch and he goes back to sleep in the crook of my arm. When he wakes up every now and then I feed him in the side-lying position and then he goes back to sleep again.
I love this because I love being so close to him (I get such a bond from this), but I worry that I'm putting him at a SIDS risk. The couch doesn't have any blankets and he doesn't use a pillow, just my arm, and I always make sure he has ample room to breathe (nothing close to his face). He can't roll over yet and I'm such a light dozer that there's no way he'd move even a bit without me waking up.
But should I stop this practice? I really hate to just put him back in his rock n play after nursing - I love the snuggles. Any advice? Thanks!
Re: Co-Napping?
I am very pro-bed sharing but sleeping on a couch with baby is not safe. There's info on safe bed sharing here: https://www.askdrsears.com/news/latest-news/dr-sears-addresses-recent-co-sleeping-concerns
My advice...make your bed a safe space for bed sharing and stay there
