Dermatologist prescribed benzoyl peroxide - that didn't work. I won't try that again either because it has parabens in it.
We ordered Dr. Wheatgrass skin recovery spray from Amazon because of the good reviews and that isn't working either.
ANy ideas?
THank you
Re: Anyone deal with molluscum?
YES!!! Sadly... my youngest DD now 20m has been dealing with it for a LONG time. Finally, after MONTHS with the dermatologist she is responding to Imiquimod.
It can take a year or longer for the body to try and attack it. It is in the Pox family and will more then likely spread to other children.
DD2 got it from DD1 and she had a MUCH worse case. Her body is FINALLY attacking it! They look pretty nasty when they start to clear up.
Avoid touching the centers that is what causes it to spread.
By the way we tried a TON of options and the ONLY thing that worked was Imiquimod. It is SPENDY!!!! Our insurance covered it and it cost $5 for a box (24 VERY small packets) but without it... the box was $625!
Good luck and message if you have questions! See a dermatologist if you can!
I've posted in a few other threads. Below is my response. You can see other responses here.
DS had 2 spots when he was an infant. Our ped recommended swabbing with listerine 2-3 times a day. 3 reasons - it dries up the area, it disinfects the area, and it irritates the area enough for the body's natural defenses to kick in and help fight the virus. It took a few weeks but eventually went away and we didn't have any spreading.
