What is this... a phase I hope

Every night after bathing my one DD wants to be carried to her room which is just 5 feet away. If I don't pick her up she cries and throws a fit. Her sister walks there nicely without wanting to be carried.. well maybe on occasion. But my other one its every night. Anyone experience anything like this. Also, leaving the house to go somewhere is the same thing. Unless I leave right away and do things on her terms she cries and carries on until we are in the car buckled in and then again aftwer we leave a store getting ready to get back in to the car...I don't know if its a seperation thing or not but I thought they were past that at this age.. Thoughts??

  • Sounds pretty normal to me. DS has his own set of routines that he likes to follow and he'll freak out if we don't do them. Example: once at bed time my husband hugged DS while holding him a couple of feet above the bed and then "dropped" him to the bed so DS bounced on the bed. DS thought it was great fun and ever since it is a mandatory part of his routine. You probably carried DD to her room one night (not even thinking about it) and she liked it so she made that part of her routine. Sure, it can be annoying but it's a normal part of development.

  • i personally think it's normal and carry her when i can if she asks. i don't see the big deal unless it's all the time. she's probably just wanting some extra comfort for some reason so i give it to her and she's fine. if i can't, i can't. but she doesn't do it all the time- though i've noticed the past week or two, she has been asking me to do this every morning when we leave the house.
