Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Yes another sleep post :) (naps)

Ok so DS is almost 9 mos. He is starting to sleep through the night, wakes in the early am but I change him and give him a bottle and he goes back down for a couple more hours. I am a ok with that. He has never been a good sleeper. We have done some CIO and thats how we got him going down at night pretty good. He's a very light sleeper, always has been. Like if I moved him when he was alseep he woke up, even at a month old. you get the picture :) So here is what we do for naps. We lay on my bed, and I feed him and then once he is asleep I sneak out. I have tried our night routine of feeding him and putting him down in his crib awake and it just does not work. I am thinking about trying again to let him CIO for naps but I just dont know. (he doesn't just whine or cry a little, its full blown sobs) What we are doing works, he naps for over an hour generally. I am torn. What do you guys think?

  • Jumping on...I have the same problem, but this is also at bedtime.
He fell from the bed a couple of times as he starts to crawl :

  • Laying him on your bed i would try to change because he will crawl away soon. But ad far as im concerned getting as much sleep as you can is best. If you are good with it then i would stick with it. Cio is hard and didnt work fir us in the middkeof the night but did for going to bed. Get your sleep im envious of one wake up. Ds is up every 23 and gas been for the last 6 mnths and i am soooo tierd.gluck
  • My LO is near impossible to get to nap or sleep at night unless I nurse him to sleep on my bed and let him stay there. We have a toddler bed rail but I'm still nervous he will fall bc he pulls to stand. Or I'm scared he will crawl to end of bed and fall off. I'm going to get rid of bed frame and put the mattress on the floor and put foam mat pieces around the bed and watch him on the video monitor. It will be a lot of work and annoying but if it gets him to sleep and I'm not trapped in bedroom bc being scared he'll fall I think its worth it.

  • LO goes down for a nap the same way as she goes to bed at night. She gets a bottle & we snuggle. Then i put her in the crib and walk away. She'll find a binkie and snuggle up with her blanket and fall asleep. It takes a little effort but i think a constant sleep routine is key. It's how she goes down for a nap at school to. Actually, DC got LO to sleep in a crib well before I could so I followed their method.
