Update!

DD and I are doing great.  Our 7 days was up as of midnight (last night) so unless BM sent a certified letter that is still in transit, saying she changed her mind, DD is ours!

I will say, I am a bit stressed right now, because the Medicaid office just called us.  They wanted to make sure DD was insured because they said BM opted out.  I let them know DD is insured under our private insurance, but then asked what she meant about BM opting out.  She said BM does in fact qualify, but said she didn't want it!  She said there was a bill that will have to be paid (for BM's expenses), but she couldn't tell me how much it was for.  Before DD was born, BM was unsure if she qualified and we told her we'd pay her medical bills if she did not.  But now, if she qualifies, we are not paying those bills.  I cannot for the life of me imagine why she would opt out!  I am really frustrated and hope BM gets back to me soon, because again, we will not pay these pills knowing she qualifies for Medicaid.  That's $10-20,000 that can go towards so many things for DD!

 I hope that the insurance gets worked out.  I would feel the same as you - no way would I pay if she just opted out of something that would have covered the costs!
