Pump parts stored in fridge?

Hi- I read somewhere that I could store my pump parts in a refridgerator in between pumping instead of washing every single time since it's just like storing your breastmilk in there.  It said to wash and sterilize at least once a day.  Anyone done this?  It would help me out tremendously when pumping at work.  I am pumping 3X a day and it feels like that is all I am doing at work and I am not getting anything done for my job.

TIA!

  • Definitely!  That is what I've done both times around (pumping for kid #2 now).  It saves a ton of time.

  • BM can be at room temp for up to 8 hours, so between pumps at work, I just wipe my parts down and throw them back in my bag.  When I get home, I wash them in hot soapy water.  We haven't had any issues.

  • Yes, I keep everything in the fridge at work all day.  I wash it when I get home.  Or at least before I go to bed.

  • Yup right in the fridge in a ziploc bag or tupperware. If I had to wash them everytime I wouldn't do it.

  • I store mine in a ziplock in the fridge during work and wash them every night in warm soapy water.

  • I keep mine in a ziploc bag at work, and then wash them at home.  I have 2 sets of parts, so I usually only wash every 2 days (but use a clean set every day, if that makes sense).

Anyone use a wet bag for pump parts?  I've thought about that as I think it would be "greener" than ziploc bags, but haven't tried it yet (mostly because I'd have to go buy a wetbag, and haven't done so yet).
