My wife and I welcomed our son last Sunday. Silas James weighed 2lbs 4oz and came into the world crying. It was a very surprising and scary experience to welcome a child into the world 15 weeks early. He's tiny, gorgeous and quite feisty. He's doing pretty well considering, but it will be a long journey. Prayers and good thoughts are much appreciated!
Re: Early Delivery
Congratulations!!
I am sorry to hear that he came so early, and I know this last week must have been extremely stressful, and I know there will be lots of stressful days ahead. But that's great that he's here and he's feisty and you're ready step back into the online world! If you're feeling up for it, we'd love to see pictures and hear more of the birth story.
I'm sure SSG will be around to share her endless wealth of information on prematurity, but if she doesn't definitely page her.

Oh goodness.. I am so sorry that happend but so excited for you .... SILAS JAMES is a feisty name ( I LOVE IT ) so no surprise he is a feisty one.
We had twins with NICU time and SSG was an AMAZING RESOURCE for me ( non bio mom) all I can say is its so tough and i dont wish that NICU on even my worst enemy ...
Somethings that helped us get through it ... was phone support I had 1 person I could call yell cry scream to and go nuts on ... and or I just emptied my hear out right here in this forum ... and ALL THE PEOPLE here were AMAZING !! AMAZING
I will PM you our number and email feel free to call yell hang up or vent cry or sneze or just listen to us say Hello a bazillion time if you feel the need.
KANGAROO CARE - Ssg told us all about this ask about it at the hospital its basically when you are skin to skin with LO helps them helps you...
we are great friends with our NICU nurse.- now she is the girls by proxy Grandma, auntie angel .. her words of wisome to us cuz were were all about just breast feeding 1st was go with the formula to bulk up and breast feed or breastmilk suppliment - so we changed it and did breast milk bottle ( m had milk /colostrum early ) then high cal formula to supplement ( this for us shaved off 3 days as the girls gained a wee bit faster) if you are there yet.
lastly, cuz its super crazy exciting and scary and emotional.... GET REST it makes a diff in LO ( i think they sense it ) and think of NICU as just awesome expensive night nurse care that will make you a SUPER DUPER MOM ... ( that was my thought cuz I realize now had we just taken them home straight away we would be at a great loss and we learned so many tips and tricks... ( in my opinion ) and the very lat thing .. If you have to leave the hospital with out them - i was so distraught I got a speeding ticket so DON'T SPEED!!!
but He sounds like he's got this all figured out !!!!
Congrats on your BABY BOY !!!!!! We are sending lots of prayers and Happy baby growing get outta the NICU vibes your way !

I'm sorry that Silas came so early, but happy to hear that it sounds like he's doing well. His weight is good for a 25 weeker! Please remember you can come here for support - most of us don't know what it's like to have a preemie, but we can still listen. *hugs* and prayers to you and the family.
