Question re: monthly pics...

Since DS was 3 months, I've been taking his monthly photos in the glider in his nursery with one of his teddys...he turns 8 months on Sunday, but we will be going away for the weekend so we won't be home that day...so I am thinking about doing his photo on either Friday before we leave, or next Tuesday after we come back so I can do it in the same spot. 

If you are doing monthly pics of your LO, have you ever done them a little early or late?  Or should I just bring his teddy on our trip and take his photo on location?

Never in her life have I managed to take her monthly photo actually on the day. The closest I came was three days late. 

If you care more deeply about the date, take them on location. If you care more deeply about consistency in background, take them early/late at home. I care about the background, so I do them at home in the morning (so the light is similar).

I forgot JB's 7 month pics until it was almost a week late, does that answer your question? I will say in the beginning I was taking his pics with the same quilt in the background, but I didn't like it. Now I just do a photoshoot wherever I think is cute. I think the collage will still come out good, and for the first couple months I will just choose a pic that I like right around when he was that month. I think I was so relaxed about it becasue if I was working and his month day fell on a workday, I wouldn't take his pic after work because he would be too cranky.

We don't always get them on the day of - sometimes the next day or so.

I don't normally get Abby's done on her actual month day. It's usually a few days after. Maybe take the teddy with you and try to do some that day but then if you want one that is similar, do a few more once you get home. The only thing I have consistently done is the numbers. The background and props change depending on my mood and the month.

I just try to take Aria's pictures before the "1/2" month mark. I'm terrible about getting them done on the day of.

I've done a different pose/location for each month. I think the same place is cute (I LOVE Kristin's monthly pics of Ben), but honestly I hadn't considered it until I saw some people on here doing it. So, Aria's monthly pictures are all different. I like the variety though, and I like how it shows all the different things Aria's doing each month. Plus, I'm too darn indecisive to pick just one theme and stick with it for an entire year. Oops!

I do Aria's footprints every month as well, and those are the only thing that I want to get as close to the day of as possible.

I don't typically get the monthly pic on the exact day either!  I'm usually within a day or 2, but I don't do his pics in the exact same spot/pose every time either.  If you're concerned about date, like pp said, take on location.  If you want the spot, I say do it before you leave.

I've always done them on the day of, but if this situation came up for me I would most likely do them before we left or after we got back! I like the idea of consistenc.

This is practically me too. I think that once i took her photo on the actual day. I have been almost two weeks late before. I wouldn't worry about taking it three days late.

I rarely remember to take his on his month date. I just try to get them done before his 1/2 birthday. But, I think it depends on what matters most to you, getting it on the day or the background. He won't change all that much in a few days!

Me too. Never the same spot so far though.

If you can't decide, do one of each. Bring teddy and take one on location and then do another in the glider when you get home so you can decide later what you want to do with them.

We had to do monthly photos while on a trip at 3 months. I just brought her monkey and went with it in the different location. We used a chair there.

I've missed his while out of town. We just did them a few days late.

I'm usually about 5-10 days late. I'd do it early or late but not at a different location. I'd want the setting the same.

Thanks everyone...I am thinking I may do his photo with his monthly sticker a couple days early, and then just take some separate photos of him on Sunday when he is 'actually' 8 months...I think I like the idea of doing it in the same spot!

Sadly I am usually a few days late for her monthy photos.  They get done though   Usually only up to 3 days late, if not on time. I would keep the same spot and do it before or after returning.
