Headaches after weaning from BFing?

Quick backgroun - I've had headaces on and off since I was a teen, after a few years, I discovered it was probably caffeine related (thanks to Starbucks and Excedrin that I tended to use when the headache started).  Before we TTC, I went cold turkey and kicked all caffeine.  I've had all of 1 cup of coffee that wasn't decaf since Jan 2011.  We've been weaned from BF since August and I've recently noticed my headaches returned - it seems like an odd correlation, maybe something hormone related?  Anyone have any similar scenarios or am I just crazy :P?  TIA

  • I would say it's probably hormonal, but you should go over and ask on the BF board, I'm sure they'll have some good input for you! :)

  • It's the return of estrogen.  Your body doesn't make any while breastfeeding.  My headaches have always been correlated withe estrogen surges...as discovered through charting.
