Is there some sort of trick for getting shoes on LO?

The only shoes I can get on my DD is sandals with Velcro straps because she curls up her toes..Being that its getting cooler out and shes walking/running she needs a GOOD pair of real shoes..She's pretty good at walking in hard sole shoes..But how the heck am I going to heck them on her?!?!?  Should I maybe go for the Wide shoes? Haven't tried them yet but if they are to wide would that through her balance off or maybe cause a twisted ankle?

Whats your trick to getting shoes on LO? what kind of shoes do you like best..

Side note: She will be playing in the snow so I would like to get one pair of shoes that will be good for everyday use and snow use..

TIA

  • I have a pair of lace up tennis shoes for her that have been great. Having the laces loose obviously helps put the shoes on, and then you can tighten as much as you need to and double knot to keep them on. Maybe you should go up a size? DD can fit into 3's in a pair of mary janes I have for her, but her tennis shoes are 4's and haven't been a problem. Side note: She isn't walking yet. Just a few steps here and there, so far.

  • Not sure if this helps as I've only just started putting shoes on LO (soft ones) but I've come to find that I have the best luck with my Wiggle Worm if I wait to put his shoes on until after he's strapped into the car seat.  Can't get away from me then. ; )   And he actually does just fine, he's usually busy playing with a toy I've handed him or something like that to even notice that I'm putting the shoes on him. Hope that helps!

  • OK so I got her Koala Kids shoes from Payless.. They're boy shoes but they have the perfect balance between soft and hard souls.. She walks perfectly in them compared to the hard sneaker like kind.. I said before that she walks fine in the hard souls but after trying on 10+ shoes she walked the best in these.. Thats ok right? Boy shoes? They are mainly black with just a little red stitching..
