Sooo, we're home!! We made it out of the hospital and nobody tried to take her away from us. Yay!
Short version: Alice Ruthanne was born via c-section at 9:21 a.m. on September 26. She was 6 pounds, 9 oz and 18.5 inches long. She has a mess of coppery tinted hair, and the absolute cutest nose I have ever seen in all of my life. She already has her daddy wrapped around her huge long skinny finger.

Long version: So, Wednesday morning at around 1:00, I woke up to roll over for the 7,000th time. TMI, but I just felt very...squishy. So I stood up thinking I wet myself or something. Cue waterfall! So obviously I came on here and posted about it. LOL
Made it to L&D and they confirmed my water really had broken. I wasn't having any contractions, so after strying 7 times to stick me for an IV, they finally got in put in and left me alone for a while. My doctor came in a few hours later and told me I was at 1cm and 40% effaced. He wanted to do an u/s to make sure she wasn't the monster baby he was predicting, and that she was still head down.
I went down to get the u/s, and everything looked great...except the fact she was "not anywhere close to the birth canal. Wow. Still way up high. Not engaged even a little bit." And my cervix still looked closed. So, the options were a C or starting Pit. We discussed it, and after realizing how high the odds were for ending up with a c-section anyway, we decided to go straight for one. (I'm extremely overweight, and she was still very high, with not much cervical change either.) So, we went right into the OR.
We ended up staying in the hospital longer than we wanted to due to some latching/feeding issues. She refused to open wide enough for a good latch, so she would scream and fight so hard that she'd use up more calories/energy than she would consume eating. So she lost over 11% of her body weight. After trying various supplementing options, I decided we just needed to get food into her quickly and get her weight to straighten out. So we moved to formula every two hours, plus me pumping every three hours and giving her whatever I pump. Luckily, it only took an extra night before she turned things around, and so we got to come home today! Not only that, my milk is really starting to come in, and her latching issues seem to have gone away. She nursed like a champ today after we got home, so moving back over to exclusive breast feeding is definitely looking promising. Love her so stinking much!

William Daryll born at 9:59am on 05/29/13. Left ovary and tube removed due to peach sized tumor found during RCS. Pathology came back benign!
