I had a 2nd degree tear and I still feel the stitches like they were put in yesterday (3 weeks postpartum). I also can't feel when I have a bowel movement anymore, until it's almost too late. I run to the bathroom since it's an emergency now every time. I had a check-up at the OB and he said everything looked fine. I am not positive, but since I don't see any of you discussing crapping your pants, I'm pretty sure everything isn't 'fine' down there! Anyone else feel like their OB did a Frankenstein on them??
Sorry, can't say if its normal since I didn't experience it. Just wanted to say I hope you feel better soon! And if you're worried I would call your OB even if it's just to ease your mind. It can't hurt.
Sometimes I don't get much warning. I had to unlatch LO to run in and wake DH the other night. I barely made it to the bathroom.
On my first walk I had to leave the stroller with my mom and speed walk home, stopping 3 times to really clench so I didn't shiit my pants. 2 seconds slower and it would have happened.
Most of my attacks come at night so I'm able to run to the bathroom And I don't think twice about it. I just figure it's a surprise bc I was sleeping. If I went in public more I bet I would notice the urgency more.
I still take 1 stool softener each day because pooping hurts. Are you? I wonder if that could be it ....

That makes sense. It does hurt a lot for me, too. My DR didn't prescribe a stool softener, but I bet that would help me. Thank you.

I found this link, it might be useful. From reading other websites, it can happen after long labors pretty often.

Thank you for this. I did push for hours. You were so much more helpful than my OB was when I was in tears explaining this was happening.

Thank god there's an explanation. I was petrified I'd be dealing with this forever, but it has started to get a little better.
