I can't handle my 2 y/o turning the light on and off anymore at night. It's a decora paddle switch. What can I use to make in inoperable for him but not for me?

I don't have the answer to your question, but what we do with our 2 1/2 yr old is put her in her room.
It's not a punishment or a time out. It's a simply a matter of, 'we don't want to be in the dark because we want to see. If you'd like to be in the dark, you're welcome to be in your room with the lights out." Then when she persists in that, I pop her in her room.
I leave the door open and she is free to stay or go, inevitably she chooses to be in the lounge with everyone else with the lights on.
I mean at night for bedtime. He is in a "big boy bed" in a room with his big bro and he is keeping them both up now. He's been in this room for 4 months but this is driving me nuts. Especially with another one here any day.

I don't have a solution for you, but my DD does the same thing during the day. When I'm cooking in the kitchen, she comes in and turns the light off. It drives me crazy. I got her to stop by having her help me cook, or when I'm doing something she can't really help with I put up a gate so she can't come in the room.
She does it for attention. If your DS is doing it for the same reason, maybe there's something else you can do to give him the attention he wants. Not sure what that is at night time though.
Their room is too big, a lamp would not provide nearly sufficient light. Not to mention I'd be petrified of him knocking it over (which would be very likely knowing him)

I have this same prob. My son keeps turning them off and on and it will eventually burn them out. Really irritating. I bought these light switch covers that go over them so adults can use them but kids can't I paid like 19$ for each of them. Well what a waste. My kid just walked right up and pulled it off. Some childproof stuff is such crap. I have resorted to using packing tape to tape it on or off, but he has learned to get that off too. I am curious to see if anyone else has some great idea, cause I tried everything and nothing works. Uggg. I feel your frustration.

its overhead
Can you just unscrew the bulb for now? Use a lamp for a while and unplug the lamp at night.
