Taking LO to the movies (updated: I did it!)

When will you?

Finding Nemo is playing at our local theater tonight, and I was tempted, but I'm thinking he's still too young. I thought about going anyways, and just leaving once he had enough, but I don't know...

Anyways, when do you think you'll take LO to his/her first movie?

We never go to the movies (the last one we went to was before I was pg) so I think I will make it a special event maybe when she's 4 or 5 for her birthday. Theres a theater near us that has tables has and serves food.

I was so thinking about taking Brooklyn but thought the same thing. I'm s little scared becasue it's not Elmo playing she might not last long.

I wouldn't do it yet! Not until they sit through a whole movie at home. Which was about 3+ for DS1! We haven't even taken him yet!

Welp, I did it - we are back and he did great! I packed lots of snacks, didn't go in until the previews were over, and he sat on my lap most of the movie. He loved it! He kept pointing and whispering "ooooh!" and laughed at lots of the funny parts. Glad I did it! It was a fun mommy/miles date!

I don't think B would be able to sit still for so long, but I can't wait until we can do the same thing.

I am glad it worked out for you.I recently took Lo and my 3yr old nephew to see the new Ice Age movie and it also worked out fine.

You've got guts girl! I wouldn't even think of bringing Griff to the movies yet. He has watched Finding Nemo at home but I think it would be different atthe theater. But good for you and M!!

Aww, that is so awesome! Sounds like you both had a good time!

I have no idea how DS would behave in a theater. I think that would be a good daddy & son outing for my DS though b/c I loathe going to movie theaters, lol. The last time I went was when I was pg w/ DS.

Thats awesome!  I have been wanting to take G.  Unfortunately my DH thinks he'll be scared of the sharks.  I'm still working on him.

I'm glad it worked out okay. My parents took J to the Omnimax theater in April. They said he did great, but I don't think I have the guts to do it yet.

I'm impressed! As a K teacher I always hated movie days because half the kids couldn't just watch the darn movie, so a toddler- wow!

I went in to it with an attitude that if it didn't work, we would just leave. We sat in the last row, all the way off to the side in the corner. He was a little scared at first of the sharks, but laughed most of the way through. There were only like five other families in the theater, all with young children, so I didn't feel like we were out of place or crazy for being there. Plus, the movie was only an hour and a half long, so it wasn't bad!

I'm so glad it went well. I can't wait to take J. I think  he would do great with it but I could be fooling myself lol
