Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

PLEASE HELP :(

OK so here goes......I found out that I was pregnant May 21. Then I found out July 16 that I had miscarried (no heartbeat). I waited one week to see if anything would happen naturally but it did not.  So July 24th (Hcg 48,000), I had a D&C.  Then 3-4 days later I started bleeding even though, I didn't after the procedure at all.  So the Doc gave methergen to stop bleeding. It did not work.  So then on Aug 7, he stated my numbers were still around 300, so he gave me Cytotek (abortion pill). Talk about miserable!!! Then my numbers went down to 100.  So we waited...... and I got the Methotrexate injection on Sept 21 (prior to this it was 21.4). So they called to say it was 11 and I may need another injection. I have had my period (so it seems) from Sept 20-now. Has anyone else had to go through all of this?????  This is so miserable and emotionally painful. I am wondering if I can just wait before doing another injection? Also my Doc said I just had to wait one period until I try again, doesnt matter if i had the methotrexate injection b/c it leaves the body fast.....Anyone have any suggestions or hear anything else? Please help!!!

Re: PLEASE HELP :(

  • It general takes about 3 weeks after a Dc for levels to drop down to zero. A bit more or less is common, but that's the average. I've never heard of someone getting so many meds after the procedure ... It sounds like maybe your dr. Might not have gotten everything during the Dc, which can happen, and is trying to avoid giving you another.
But With your hcg at 11 I would give it some more time before taking another shot an get a second opinion in the meantime.

I agree with this. I've been doing some reading since my D&C and it really does seem like people vary with how quickly (or slowly) their hcg levels drop.  Sorry yours seem to be taking a long time. I would just wait and see what your numbers are in a week or two instead of taking more medication, but that's just me. And I would consider getting a 2nd opinion as well.  GL to you and I hope this ordeal will be over for you soon. I know it makes moving on (emotionally) that much more difficult.

  • I was further along and it took 9 weeks for my level to drop completely. Out of my nine weeks I bleed the entire time and was prescribed medicine twice to get my uterus to contract.

    I am soo sorry
