Little Intro

Hi ladies, I'm Bran. I have lurked for a couple of years and am very excited that I can finally be an active poster. We were given a 30% chance of IVF working for us and it did We are expecting our little miracle April 11th!

From a very young age I've had an interest in NB. It probably started when I was 10 years old watching my 16 year old sister go through terrible labor in a hospital. I knew there had to be a better way. Well, two years of infertility has given me plenty of time to do my research and make goals for how I want my L&D experience to be.

Yesterday, I fired my OB and hired a great midwife. DH and I toured our hospital which seemed to be pretty NB friendly (birthing tubs and balls in each room) and said that they will not offer my an epi or drugs unless I request them.

We have a tour set up for 10/11 at the birthing center that is across the street from the hospital. We are really looking forward to this and are hoping to birth there instead of the hospital.

Hello! I think I've seen you on the April 2013 board too I'm due 4/28.

I don't post often, but I'm also planning a natural birth with a midwife. I've been exploring my options and toured a couple birthing centers in my area. Last week I interviewed with a midwife who I fell in love with right away. So, my DH and I finally made our decision and have chosen to do a homebirth with her! I have my first official appointment with her next week.

I hope your tour of the birthing center goes well!

Yay! Another April mama! I'm kind of in the same boat as you...I'm seriously considering switching from an OB to a midwife at a birth center (see my post below). Hospitals and OBs here are NOT NB friendly, and I just don't want the stress of having to fight for every last little thing during my labor. Good luck to you!!!

Hellooo from the April 2013 boards too. Sounds like you are off to a great start in planning for a NB. Have you thought about if you are doing any specific childbirth classes (i.e. Bradley, Hypnobabies, etc.)?
