LO has been babysat by his grandmother one evening every 2 months or so for the past year. He reportedly cries when he wakes up from his nap but cheers up and has a goood time soon after. He just started preschool this month and seems to after an initial transition period really like it. However last time his gramma watched him he cried for over an hour before we even left. We try to leave during his nap, but this will be impossible tomorrow. He has spent the past few days obsessively asking me "mama be here when I wake up my nap" and this morning was in tears on the way to preschool saying "no gramma be here". She's watching him tomorrow and next Sunday. Any advice to get us all through tomorrow?

Re: babysitting???
Agreed. He's at the age where it's important to tell him the truth. And some kids appreciate it/can deal with it better when they know exactly what's going to happen. My DS is like that -- he just needs to know what's happening, when. And I agree that a fun something special will help. The two times my mom has watched the kids while DH and I went out of town, she brought a special bird house to paint, took DS to get a new toy, she brought cookies they could decorate together...just do something fun and different, so it's "special" and something only he and grandma get to do together.
