Lainey or Laney?

Which way would you spell it? Lainey feels more natural and more feminine but I like how Laney is shorter. Do you like this name for a girl?

I'm probably in the minority here, but I like Lainey as a stand alone name (this spelling).  I prefer a more formal name with Lainey as the nn, but I wouldn't side-eye it as a stand alone name.

This. But not as a full name.  Its sounds too cutesy for my taste.  It also reminds me of Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook) from She's All That the movie so I picture someone artsy and different.

One of my closest friends is Lainey (nn for Elaine).  I think it's a great name.
