Also, sorry you're having to do this but I feel AWESOME when I cut dairy out. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. You may want to look into knowing the "hidden" words for milk, too...whey, casein, etc.
Thank you so much for all the info and websites!! I'm definitely overwhelmed right now figuring out what I can and can't eat, but I'm looking at this as an opportunity to not only keep my baby healthy, but to make myself healthier and thinner too.
Just to butt in:My favorite dairy free macaroni and "cheese" is Namaste brand Say "Cheez."It is gluten free too, but it is the only one that actually tastes good, and it is so nice to taste something almost "normal."Also, Luna and Larry's coconut ice cream is awesome. Pricy, but worth it. Watch for things labeled nondairy. They still tend to have some sort of dairy. Makes sense, right? nbsp;I went dairy free etc for DS and it is definitely hard but worth it! It all becomes second nature over time. :nbsp;
Thank you for the suggestions and support! I'm feeling pretty down about it. I nursed DS1 for a tear and that seems so unattainable now with DS2.
Re: tags
For butter, get Earth Balance...it's great.
For milk, soy, almond, etc are all great.
I don't really care for dairy free cheeses but I do make cheese sauces using nutritional yeast.
Tofu, flax, applesauce, etc can make a great replacer for eggs if you have to include eggs, too.
Do you have a trader joe's by you? They mark all their vegan products vegan or dairy free and they have a TONincluding some yummy ice creams.
Peasandthankyou.com, happyherbivore.com, theppk.com, ohsheglows.com all have great dairy free recipes.
Healthytippingpoint.com is a great blog about a mom that's healthy and she has a 3 month old and is dairy free bc of breastfeeding.
HTH. Let me know if you have anymore questions or need more!
