I kept track of her every move it felt like for about 2.5 weeks. Then when I started sucking at it instead of feeling guilty for once in my life I told myself that was likely a sign that it wasn't that important anymore. I think by that point I knew what her "normal" was and if anything changed extremely for the negative I would notice. I do still journal her sleeping times though and in between that I write which side I've breast-fed on as I can't seem to remember from one hour to the next.
The 2 week appt was the last time DS's pedi asked about it. Once his weight was on the right track.
I kept an excel sheet that tracked everything, feedings, diapers, sleep, activity, until he went to daycare at 13w. I found it helpful to notice a natural routine develop and learn his signals.
I'm using an app called Total Baby, but like PP as I approach the 2 week mark I'm starting to use it less and less and just going off of LOs signs of hunger instead. Once we get a weight check Monday and everything looks good I might not use it at all anymore.
With DS we kept up with it for 2 weeks and brought it to his pedi. She was quite confused as to why we had brought it to her.
With DD we stopped as soon as we got home from the hospital. We tried to keep it up, but it was just too much with DS. We had a good idea of how things were going when we took her to her doctors appt at 4d old, and she was gaining weight well, so that was it.
This for me too. Although I have started tracking feedings again on my iPad, to try to see if there's a trigger with DS's spit-ups. So far, it's just random. Formula, breast milk, good burp, no burp, 1oz, 3oz, it doesn't matter. It just happens two or three times a day. Our Pedi isn't concerned yet though, since it's not every feeding and he's gaining weight well.
Oops, sorry for stealing the post and making it something different, my bad :-)
I kept track for his first three days thinking that the pedi would want to know but not so much I stopped after that but me and my BF been good at communicating with each other so we both know how he's doing.
