Not sure what everyone has been doing, but I figure I will share what I have been doing. Besides work, we are redoing a closet with an organizer versus what was in there when we moved in. I took out all of the wire shelving that was there, patched some holes in the walls and last night I painted a closet so that hopefully hubby will install the new shelves and poles. Also peeled a ton of apples to dehydrate them for healthy snacking.
Has anyone else been up to anything fun?
Re: Why have the boards been so quiet this week?
WOAH! Best wishes! Please keep us updated!
I had my 2.5 hour one-on-one session with our social worker yesterday and it was majorly draining. That was session #3 out of 6, so we're officially half way through our home study with a completion date now officially set for November 16th!
:::Our Adoption Journey:::
Evan James was born 1/24/13 and matched with us 2/20/13. The LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!
I don't post much, but...
We completed our home study and have everything turned in. They think we should be licensed by Oct 15!!! This is huge news, considering we started the process with DCF in the Spring of last year!
5/10 - Gideon 6/12 Warren
4/11 Started adoption process for 2 siblings through DCF. 10/12 Found out we are licensed! 12/14 Brought 3 week old identical twin girls home from the hospital. Could be at least until Summer 1015 til we know if they are forever ours
All the best as you wait, Amyaggie.
I've just been really busy. M has football practice 3 times a week (games on weekends), for 2 hours a pop, and to get there in time, we have to leave my house at 5:45. But I don't get home until 5:30 and my husband has been working longer hours (he leaves the house at 6 and doesn't get home until 5 or 6 at night), so he can't be the primary person to take him anymore. Luckily, my 18 year old nephew moved in with us two weeks ago, so he feeds the boys dinner and then takes them to the field, where I meet them after coming home, eating something quick, doing dishes, going over homework, making the next day's lunches, and straightening up. Except that my nephew doesn't know how to cook, so we've been teaching him by giving him really simple meals to prepare and step-by-step instructions the night before. Also, I'm trying to teach him how to conduct a job search for the first time, complete with creating a resume. It's been an adventure, to say the least.
During my "spare time" at work, I've been fighting over both boys' IEPs or lack thereof, collecting research, checking in with the teachers/school, contacting support groups, and talking to lawyers and advocates to determine our next best move. Oh, and last night I received a notice (my first) in J's backpack saying that he may not return to school until they received a completed physical form from his doctor, so I spent my morning running between his Kindergarten-wraparound program, the doctor's office, and the school, and having his teacher tell me what a "great boy" he is and how "well" he's doing, because she thinks that will make me believe that he doesn't need an IEP despite his medical needs and delays. The day my second son graduates from high school will no doubt be the happiest day of my life.
ETA: Sorry for my rant. I'm a bit more than stressed. I can't wait until this incessant fighting with the schools is over. And football season, too, for that matter, although M is enjoying that.
