C-sections

What did you pay your anesthesiologist?

The bill was $1260.  They're saying after insurance I owe $1000.  Um, I don't think so.  I've had general anesthesia w/ c-section #1 and I've had a spinal w/ c-section #2 and never paid a dime for either.  Now this?  I repeat, I don't think so.

Re: What did you pay your anesthesiologist?

  • My anethesiologist's bill was $7000. I paid $0 since I had already hit my deductible. Has your insurance policy changed? Have you hit all of your deductibles?

  • My anesthesiologist bill was $6200, granted it was an emergency c-section but my insurance covered it all.

  • I had to pay a couple hundred after my insurance.

Has your insurance changed?  Where they out of network?  There are a lot of things that could cause this change.

  • we hit our deductible by the time I delivered DD so I'm not sure how much it cost.  I do know when I got the total bill for the hospital stay it was about $31,000 before insurance took their cut.   talk about expensive!  all the bills that come in after delivery are insane and hard to keep track of.  I highly suggest going over every cost with your insurance company to get all the details ironed out.  I know we got some bills that we shouldn't have paid which is why i'm glad we waited until I figured everything out.

i didn't think about this either. DD's hearing test was out of network and it pissed me off that they didn't give us a choice of in network.  although the hospital was in network the doctor that performed the procedure was not.  luckily they gave me a 40% discount off of it because it was not covered

That is the crappy part about insurance--just because the hospital is in-network, it doesn't mean Dr's you will see are.

We had this happen when DH ended up in the ER.  I called our insurance company to discuss it.  Because our hospital was in-network they re-billed it.  I was ticked and said, "Do I need to ask who's in and out of network before they see us in the ER?"  Insurance company said several times that if it happened again, to just let them know and they would adjust it.  I guess it was because a PA saw my DH and she was through a contact company and not actually employed by the hospital - if that makes sense.
