going through a separation

My H and I have been separated since July.  He is now back living in Florida and working and I'm here at my parents house with my 3 year old until I get back on my feet.  What is the process of getting a divorce in the state of NC? also are there any assistance programs for single mothers? I live in Brunswick County.

I feel lost and have no idea what i'm doing.

I would talk to a lawyer/lawyers, on what they suggest to do about getting a divorce. I talked to 2 different ones and decided on the one that I thought was looking more after me and my son etc. You can also ask them about assistance programs, I am sure most of them would know if there are any or not.
