Pregnant after 35

WWYD?

I have bloodwork, nt scan, and doc appt. next Thursday. Origanally my husband took the afternoon off to watch our other two boys but it just dawned on me then he doesn't get to be there for the ultrasound. We are thinking about driving separately and bringing the boys along. Then they get to see the baby too and dh will just head home with them after the ultrasound. The boys are 6 4 so I am not worried about their behavior, but what if something was wrong with the baby? That might be awkward, but I think it would be so exciting for them otherwise. I already checked with the office and they said it was fine. So what WWYD? Bring the kiddos along or have your DH miss it?

Thanks for your insight!

Re: WWYD?

  • My office only allows 1 adult, no kids.  The NT Scan is long. If you think they can handle that than go for it.

  • If they can handle what might be a lengthy appointment, bring them.  Most likely, there won't be any really bad news.  If the nuchal measurement is off, a 6 and 4 year old probably wouldn't really understand the discussion anyways.

I'd definitely bring some quiet activities they could do if they get bored though, like some coloring books or something.

  • Hm. I think both Petra and Technigirl gave good advice. If you do get a sitter, you can still show your kids pictures from the u/s when you come home. If you bring them, they might like it, but may get bored before the app't is over. You know your kids best.
