DD still loves her paci. Not the worst thing in the world but definitely not helping in the middle of the night when she screams for it! Her sleep is horrible again and CIO does not work anymore. Now I rock her for about 40 minutes every night. She'll sleep for an hour then wake up squirming around, looking for her paci. I'll give her the stupid thing AND my hand to hang on to until she falls asleep. She'll wake up again and we do the repeat. This goes on for about 3 hours until she's finally out (around midnight) until 4 or 5 am. She'll eat, I'll rock her back to sleep for about 20 minutes and then she's out until 7 or so.
The sleep regression is most definitely due to teething. She was doing awesome before! CIO worked like a charm and in the event of her waking up, I"d go in and give her the paci and she'd be instantly out for the rest of the night.
Anyway I want to start weaning her off her paci. But not sure if now is the right time? If she's still teething and that gives her at least some type of soothing. then again she'll be teething for quite a while! How did you start the process? She's ok for a good part of the day without it and only gets it when she really starts to fuss. But she wont go down without it at night.
Any tips to any of my dillemas here?
TIA!
ps I should add that her being out at midnight until 4or5 is actually on a really good night. Usually there is at least one more waking in there but it's usually a bit easier to get her to go back to sleep...

good baby!!
I was thinking about the cold turkey aproach as well... I see it kind of like CIO in a way. Eventually she'll just get over it and go to sleep. But i'm so nervous since now CIO does not work. So I feel like this will only add to the already insane scream fest LOL But your LO seems to be handling those things way better!
I also hears about punching a hole in the paci so it deflates and then they lose interest. Ever heard of such thing??
I haven't heard of that, but I have hear of cutting the tip off of it and just cutting it shorter and shorter until she loses interest. That is the other approach that we have considered.

Ohhhhhh
Baby 2 EDD 7-18-14
yeah... See I've tried a blankie and a little plush toy with her b/c to go to sleep now, not only does she want a paci she also has to hang on to my arm and pinch it. It's driving me nuts! If I take my hand away = SCREAMING. Lately the "bad" habits are just piling up! I tried letting her CIO but she's crying to the point of not catching her breath, next step is I"m sure puking. So I'm being completely honest - I am totally scared and not sure how to approach it
But I guess I just have to give it a try and see how things go.
Thanks everyone!!
