Re: Open Letter Thursday

  • Dear 2nd GI Doc,

Thank you for your opinion, but your ultimatum that I pick between you and our current doctor was uncalled for. While I appreciate your opinion and the fact that you have been in our shoes before as a parent, all the specialists in your network of people are all in the other part of the state aka the part of the state that likes the Red Sox and not the Yankees. My dh and I both work and need to work. We cannot be traveling 3 hours each way every week to see a speech therapist.

Again, thank you for your time.

    Dear current GI Doc,

We wanted to get a 2nd opinion. You are still our guy. The fact that you email me when you haven't heard from me, is the cherry on top of your already stellar services.

    Dear MIL,

I know that you are in "medical field" but you are in sales of bariatric equipment. Yes, you speak with GI doctors daily, but we have a course of action. If we need your help or your opinion, we will ask. Otherwise, can you listen to the Rock and know your role and shut your mouth?

    Thanks

  • Dear Me

Good for you for FINALLY opening up - even if it's just a little - to your husband about how you feel and why you're so damn grumpy all the time.  No, he didn't like it and it almost turned into one of those never-ending arguments, but you did it and that's a good thing!

    Love, Me.

    Dear DS,

THANK YOU for easing up on the screaming.  It's made a world of difference.  I know you still get upset and it's hard to regain control.  I know it takes a lot of work for you and I'm sorry everything's so hard, but I'm SO proud of you. You're my little superstar.  Hooray!!!

    Love, Mom.

  • Dear DD,

Thank you for finally wanting to eat.  It has been a long 8 months while you threw this hunger strike at me, and I am glad to continue feeding therapy, or whatever else is needed to help you along with this.

    Love,

    Mom

    Dear Me,

Thank you for finally putting your pride aside, and seeing a counselor over the depression and anxiety that DD has caused with her eating refusal.  I feel a lot better.  It is also good to know that there is help out there for people with anxiety like mine, as I guess I have had it for a while, but didn't want to recognize it.  Please continue to talk to others about these feelings, as you are driving the inner me bonkers!

    Dear State and auto insurance,

Why do you charge me so much for tags and registration for my crappy car?  Why do I pay almost as much for insurance as my husband does for his new SUV?  Gas prices are breaking me, and now this???  Really???

Your loyal tax paying, auto driving constituent

  • Dear OT,

Thanks for coming out to evaluate DS today.  I was a little annoyed you were 15 minutes late but hey, it happens.  Leaving at your regular time was uncalled for though.  I didn't make you late and my child deserved an hour of attention.  Oh, and basically calling me a bad mom.. yeah.. thanks but no thanks, I think we'll be breaking up if next week isn't any better.  You obviously feel that my kids sensory issues are a result of my bad parenting so why should we bother continuing to see each other and wasting each other's time.  I think DS's coordinator is on my side too!

     Sincerely,

Not a perfect, but certainly not a bad mom

    Dear DC,

I almost spewed coffee all over my work keyboard.  That was awesome.

  • Dear Kitty who is 16,

    Please.stop.puking.

I realise that you are like 80 years old now, but the puking has got to stop. I suspect you are ticked because I do not get up at 6 am to feed you. You then have the bits that are still in your bowl, fill up your belly with water, and spew. Usually all over the dining room chairs.

DH is fed up. We will not be going to the vet to once again learn there is nothing wrong with you other than you are a crotchety cat. I will not be buying thirty billion types of cat food (again) to find something you will not hurl up later. Get the f over it.

    Love,

    Your Meowmy

  • Holy cow Auntie!  That's fierce!

Dear parking lot attendant at VCU,

I so appreciate the fact that you yelled at the top of your lungs, "she don't got no money," because it turns out I left my purse 1 1/2 hours away, at home.

I told you this, and that I had 1.80 and I would gladly pay an extra 20 cents or more next time, we are there all the time.  She said they couldn't take 1/2.

But instead, you asked for my ID. Uhm, in my purse..which isn't here.  Write a check.  Again..last I knew checkbooks were kept in purses.  So alas you gave me a parking ticket with 5 days to pay with no phone number or address and a blank, "remit payment to:" section.

    SERIOUSLY!?  Rude.

  • I'm pretty sure this is the same as last week plus I'm late opps

Dear  Psych or Children's or who ever is causing the delay,

I need the full report from diagnosis.  You said and the 1 pager you gave me said 6-8 weeks.  It's been 12.  I'd like to share that report with DS's teachers and the SpEd team (at least one of which I'm pretty sure doesn't believe DS is really on the spectrum.)  That report might help with that.  It would have also help at the Dev Pedi f/u (BTW thanks Dev Pedi for saying you'll light a fire under who ever is holding the report up hopefully it works).  The Dev Pedi put my mind at ease that we are doing all the right things but I'd like your recommendations to.

    Sincerely,

The inpatient mom who needs the info and paid a hefty chunk of cash for your very valuable expertise.

    Dear IEP team,

The only thing keeping me from going all formal and requesting an IEP review in writing is my lack of the above report.  I asked about a month ago if we could bump up the review since DS has met almost all of the goals and we're not due to meet until the end of November.  I get it you don't stop working just because he's met the current goals but there's a reason for a written IEP in the first place.

    Sincerely,

The mom who is about 95% happy with this whole IEP "system" experience.  I guess I can't complain too much.
