Stretch Mark Lotions/Creams, what do you use?

I know it's largely genetics which will determine if I will get stretch marks or not. But I want to do what I can.  What lotions or creams that are safe did you use?  When did you start using them?

Re: Stretch Mark Lotions/Creams, what do you use?

  • I can't think of the brand but I use a cocoa butter one specifically for pregnancy. Unfortunately, I still am getting the stretch marks (though I've been using the lotion since about 12 weeks) but it really helps relieve the painful/itching feeling that comes along with them. I didn't know stretch marks could hurt!

  • I alternate between Belly Elasticity Spray by Belli (expensive), and plain old almond oil (cheap) from the natural foods store. It's too early to say if I will get stretch marks, but I assume I will since I got a bunch during puberty. However, I couldn't live without the oils to soothe my itchy skin and I am lovin' the nightly rubdowns from DH. :)

  • Oh - I forgot to say I started using them about 12 weeks when my skin started stretching. Now I use them about once a day.

  • I used the palmers tummy butter and lotion and didn't get any. They worked great for me and I loved the smell.

  • I've been using Palmer's and so far so good. I will tell you the u/s tech at my MFM office asked me not to use it 2 days prior to my scheduled u/s. She said it made it more difficult to move the babies around to see them with the lotion barrier.

  • I used Earth Mama Angel Baby Stretch Oil and loved it. I started using it at about 9 weeks, as soon as I started getting itchy belly skin.
