LO occasionally crawling again ???

My LO was later with his walking (15 - 15.5 months), but has been walking great for a long time. He run, jumps, walks up and down our stairs (with me holding his hand - but that's mostly just for me!), climbs onto dining room tables now, etc. He's pretty darn coordinated.
But, for some reason every now and then he'll crawl to get somewhere.
Sometimes I know he's on the floor more to play with his cars. But, sometimes it winds up being in order to go from the dining room to the kitchen, i.e.
There was a time last Christmas when he saw a relatives baby crawl. He started crawling around after him, which was cute. But, it didn't last.
He is one of the oldest in my main playgroup but almost all of those babies walk now.
So, now I'm wondering what this is about? Would this be part of the going back and forth between baby and a big kid???
We haven't had any major changes otherwise. He's still in his crib. It's been awhile now since he moved from his high chair to the booster. ... He did tell me once today he was wet and grabbed his pants and told his dad he was pooping. Is this a one step forward, two steps back type of thing?
I'll have to pay closer attention, too. I'm trying to think now if it's been other parts of the house, or mostly just that narrow spot between the dining room and the kitchen. And, that's the spot where our two 70+ pound dogs rush around a bit to get to the kitchen and go outside.
Has anybody else had this happen? Or, I'm wondering if it was just a situational type of thing.

  •  Thanks. I didn't think too much of it until our Parents As Teachers lady came for a home visit and commented on it.

  • DD started walking at 14.5 months and just recently she started crawling down the hallway on occasion.  I don't think it's a problem, just like sometimes she likes to hop wherever she is going, just a different way of getting around.
