Sharp and quick pains above pubic bone

Hi everyone! I am 6 weeks and a couple days pregnant. I've had cramps on and off since I found out I was pregnant two weeks ago but today as I was leaning down to do something I got a sharp painful pain right above my pubic bone area that lasted a couple seconds..I was just a little worried because it was a new type of cramp not the normal mild menstrual type I've been having. My doctor did prescribe me terconazole cream for a yeast infection and my first dosage was last night so maybe it's from that or I don't know...just worrying myself crazy! Has anyone experienced this type of pain??

  • I experience all kinds of pain and keep reminding myself that if there is no blood, everything is probably fine.  If you are still worried, though, (which I do not blame you for) call your doctor.  They are used to calls from nervous mamas.

  • I don't know if mine are the same, but I get random cramps every other day or so that I'd say are like charlie horses for about 1-3 seconds.  I tell myself that they are due to uterus growth.  Good luck!

  • Sounds like round ligament pain. Completely normal and will most likely get worse as your little one gets bigger and everything keeps stretching!

  • I'm 5 1/2 weeks and I get them too, if I stretch the wrong way or move to quickly. My dr has assured me as long as I'm not bleeding then its normal "growing pains". Good luck!
  • My doc told me not to worry unless I see blood or experience "the worst cramps of my life", his words too. Since you said the pain lasted only a few seconds I wouldn't be too concerned. During the first week or two after I conceived I had some really bad cramps a few times, but nothing that I was too concerned about even though they had really hurt. You can always call your doc to get reassurance.
  • I have them - but only in the middle of the night.  They have woken me up.  Sometimes I wonder if it's me just REALLY having to pee, because it goes away so quickly.  They are always on my left side (right above the pubic bone as well).

Like others, I haven't worried about it too much because it's so quick and I haven't seen any blood.

  • Yep! I've also had cramps since before I found out about the pregnancy. Some days they are gone and others they come back. Occasionally I get the really sharp ones that last a couple of seconds. I also started getting sore abs that hurt when I stretch or turn in bed. I freak out sometimes, but I try to stay positive. As a PP said, as long as there's no blood, I am ok!

I've also noticed that when I don't drink enough water, the cramps get worse. I'm not sure if that's related or not, but it's just another reason to remind myself to stay hydrated!

  • I had really bad sharp pains over the weekend that sound really similar to that.  I didn't realize until the second night that it started almost immediately after starting a Monistat 3 cycle.  Originally I just thought they were gas pains.  The pains came and went and lasted through the night and next day, and were much more mild the following day.  I did choose to skip the 3rd dose of monistat and was 100% better after.  I'm still not sure if it was from that or just gas pains, but I haven't had them since.

This. I'm getting them earlier this time, and like last time, it happens every time I sneeze.

  • I skipped my next dosage too and I haven't had any more pains since. Maybe it has something to do with the yeast infection medication. Either way, I will just deal with the little yeast infection until I'm a little further along..I don't like worrying so much over these cramps!! :) good luck to everyone!!

  • I just started feeling these sharp pains minutes ago, while at work, and decided to read up on our board to see if any other ladies were experiencing something similar. I'll keep an eye on it, but from what you've all said, it sounds like the uterus just stretching. Thanks all!
