Success! After so much anxiety, which you all were kind enough to share with me, I was able to deliver my son vaginally at 2:11 a.m. on 9/25. As some of you read, I went in for my standard bi-weekly NST on Monday morning and, when they did the US to check my fluid level, they said he was head down! After being breech the Thursday before, I was unwilling to chance it any further. I asked the tech to call up to talk to the dr. and, after she spoke to him, he said to come straight up for induction! I made some frantic calls to DH and my mother, who was watching DD, then went up to get checked and see what the options were at about 9:30 a.m. I was still nervous as the dr. said that if I wasn't dilated, it made the chances for successful induction a lot less and I could end up with the c-section I was trying to avoid. After the check though, I was 2 cm dilated, so we decided to give it a shot.
It was a little rough at first, I was stuck at 2 cm for 4 hours and then 4 cm for 6 hours. Baby's heart rate was unstable and they kept moving me from side to side, which also made me nervous that he would reposition himself again. At around 11 p.m. the dr. checked me again and I had finally gotten to 7 cm! After that, the rest moved pretty quickly and, by 1:45 a.m. I was so tired of doing all of this and just ready to push him out. We got all set to push and just as we started, the fire alarms start going off! I looked at the dr. and told him I was not moving unless it started to get really warm in there, lol. So I pushed for about 10 minutes and out he came! The dr. had to turn him as he was coming out face up, but I ended up with just a one-stitch tear and a perfect little boy! He weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and we are so happy that we got through this without any major issues. After a new surprise around every corner during this pregnancy, Ethan is sweet and calm and low-key so far. We will see how he is when he gets home with his big sister tomorrow! Now I just get to worry about the challenge of dealing with 2 under 2, but I welcome a new, but wonderful, worry at this point!
Let the fun begin!
Yay, got his picture in below!
