DS HATES carseat

Dont know if this board is for actual ?'s anymore or just trash talking and ridiculousness but I could use some help...

DS literally hates the carseat- I've tried going for errands right before nap time hoping he would sleep, I've tried right after nap and bottle doesn't matter he hates it. I've put rattles and toys back there made sure he has his paci, play white noise or soft children's music nothing he just screams pretty much the whole time. And it doesn't matter how long we're in the car whether 5 min or an hour.

 I don't know what to do. I mean I can handle this if it is a phase but I don't know what we're going to do if this lasts. Someone please tell me this is a phase!! Should I buy a new carseat? And yes he used to like it- when he was a newborn he LOVED it. What gives?

I know it is different with every baby, but some just don't like their carseats because they want to see what is going on or be with someone, etc. E is like this too unless there is someone back there with her or she is extremely tired & can't fight it.

In addition to what PP said, my LO gets scared when it is dark, so I keep the lights on. She will cry less, but still cries.

Could it be that he's too hot? DS gets hot really easily we have to stop frequently on long car trips because he gets so sweaty. Does his back feel sweaty when you take him out?

He is kinda sweaty! I didn't think about that, hmm I hope with fall coming and cooler temps it will help that.

My OBGYN told me that I should actually let my daughter chill in her carseat more often to get her used to being in it. However, I don't have your problem so it may not be helpful to you. Everything is a phase when you're a newborn IMO so it will get better with age...but your patience may wear thin by then

It's probably just a phase. DD1 always screamed her head off in the car seat. Then she'd only do it at city speeds (highway she was fine). Now she LOVES going for car rides. I know it's hard listening to your baby cry, but if he's fed and clean, then there's not much you can do. Just keep talking to him so he knows you're there.

My DS2 hates his car seat too. He's never liked it, both while driving, or just hanging out, or in the stroller. He's tolerating it a bit more now, but still screams on car rides. 

I adjusted his straps (he's grown enough that they were too low for him) and added those soft shoulder/neck strap things, which seems to help.

You could try switching to a convertible seat and see if that makes a difference.
