Minneaoplis to Boulder or Denver

My husband is getting relocated to Colorado and will have offices in both Denver and Bolder and would need to fly about once a month. We are moving from Minneapolis near the lakes and looking for suggestions on neighborhoods for both places,as well as suggestions on Boulder vs Denver.

I'm also debating moving while pregnant vs after the baby is born--I have loads of family and friends in Minneapolis and we don't know anyone in Colorado.   Does anyone have recommended elementary schools? Recommended mom's clubs? We are thinking around 800k for a house. My Denver neighborhood research makes it sound as if Washington park and area might be nice.

Re: Minneaoplis to Boulder or Denver

  • Congrats on the move! We moved from MN in 2006, I'm originally from St. Cloud. East Wash Park is much nicer than West. Also look at University Hills and Slavens Elementary School. The Cherry Creek / Country Club area is beautiful as well as the west part of Park Hill. Highlands is popular and close to Downtown and the schools are improving. There are a few mommy groups around: Highland Mommies, Colorado Attachment Parenting, MOPS. Another area with great elementary schools is Cory Elementary in the Corry Merrill neighborhood. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I miss the lakes terribly, but the weather here is amazing!

  • I'm from Minneapolis too. Where about do you live now?
  • Boulder is really nice.  You could also cut the difference and look in Broomfield. They're a part of the Boulder school district which is really good.

Wash park Area is a great area with great schools (Cherry Creek), but honestly, Boulder is great too. Good luck on your search!

  • Wash Park is definitely an ideal place to live in the Denver area.  Cherry Hills is also very nice and pretty centrally located.  Boulder is a great place as well but not as close to the airport which it sounds like your husband will be using a bit.

Meetup.com hosts a bunch of different Mom groups and you can search by area to meet Moms close to you.

Colorado is great - I am sure you will love it here :)
