For those of you who had episiotomies has your sex life been back to normal? I'm asking because its been now 3 months and 3 weeks and sex is still painful (very tender). When did it get better for you?
Second degree tear here. We have to go slow and use lots of lube, but it feels pretty good. Different, but good. I hope it gets even better once I wean and my hormones are back to normal.
I had a 4th degree...the first couple of times were definitely hard. Now it's somewhat back to normal. The beginning hurts a little still, we just go slow at first and it works out just fine. Lots of lube helps too
With DD1 I tore and had an episiotomy. I ended up needing surgery about 5 months pp because of the pain. Turns out I had extra scar tissue. It took forever to be able to have sex comfortably.
I was extremely lucky that I didn't tear or need to be cut with DD2. Infact, the day I had my 6 week pp check up I came home that night and had sexy time with DH.
Just go really slow and use A LOT of lube. Especially if you are bf'ing as that tends to dry things up.

I did not have an episiotomy, but I did have 2nd degree tears (both way). I can still feel where the tearing is during sex but it has gotten better with time. Lube is your friend!
Re: Episiotomy question?
I'm not really sure how long it will take to feel normal again..if I ever do. Sorry, this is probably no help...but that's just my experience.
