Prayers

Hello Ladies,  I was referred to come over here. Looking for encouragement!I wanted to please ask for prayers for our little miracle baby.  On sept 17 I was admitted to the hospital with HELLP syndrome. It was so far progressed that I had to have steroid shots to build up my sons lungs as well as my platelets that had dropped extremely low. I was told that I would not make it through the week pregnant. They had to save me and my son so on sept 19 my baby was born at just 2lbs 12 oz at 29w5d.  he is a fighter. Still on a vent because he just doesn't have enough strength to breath completely unassisted because he gets tired but they started feeding him my milk yesterday which is a huge step forward.  Leaving him was the hardest thing I've ever had to do but I know he is in good hands. The hospital is 1.5 hours away and I can't drive yet because I have to recover but my husband and I are making it at least every other day now.  It's so hard not being able to hold him yet and it could be a couple more weeks before we can!  Please just pray for his strength, growth, and healing!  Thank you in advance!

  • Sending prayers and positive vibes.  My son was also born at 29/6 due to pre-e/HELLP.  These little guys are fighters! I know it's hard leaving your lo behind, especially when you live so far away.  Have you looked into whether there's a Ronald McDonald house nearby?  I spent a lot of time at the RMH and it took away a lot of the stress by being able to stay closer.  Best wishes for an uneventful NICU stay!

  • You'll are in my prayers. I was diagnosed with HELLP in JUly. My LO was born at 3lbs. Is there a Ronald McDonald house located in the city where the hospital is located. I delivered at a hospital over an hour away from home, but I was able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house until my LO was discharged.
  • I know how hard it is to not be there with your lo all the time but know that he is in good hands.  It's the best for him now.  I had to remind myself that a lot when my lo was in the NICU.  Like others said- is there a Ronald McDonald house around?  I've never used one personally but have had friends that did and it was a life saver for them.

I will keep you and your little fighter in my thoughts and prayers!  Keep us updated on how things are going.

  • Congrats and welcome!  I was in the same situation as you (LO was born at 29w/5d at a hospital an hour and half away) so I can totally relate.  I know it is so hard to leave him behind and trust his care to someone else but he is in good hands and these babies are just amazing fighters.  As pp said, ask the social worker about a Ronald McDonald house.  Praying for you and your LO that his NICU stay is short and uneventful :)  Keep us posted!
