Baby Names

Girl Name - January

What do you think? Our last name is very short, just one syllable so I think that a longer first name will sound just fine but I worry that it's too uncommon and people we'll think I'm a weirdo or naming my kid after January Jones.

Re: Girl Name - January

  • It's not my style at all but I wouldn't think you were a "weirdo". I'd probably just assume she was born in January! Wink

  • Yes, I would think you named your kid for January Jones.  Before she came into the spotlight, was it ever really used as a name?

    NMS.

  • I like it, just as long as she a) isn't born in January and b) doesn't have siblings names April, May, or June.

  • To me it's no weirder than April, May, June or August(a)(us).  It's NMS though.
  • NMS but I've never understood people naming their children after months, sorry.

     Yup ^^

What about Julianna? Has the multiple syllables and the "J", but it's much much much prettier.

  • Not a fan.  But then again, I'm not a fan of any month names.  There are millions of names to pick from; I'd rather not use one of the 12 used for months.

  • I think it would be cute. BTW, I was born in January, so my opinion may be bias LOL
  • It's NMS, have you though of using the French word? Janvier?

  • I actually really love it and I wouldn't immediately think of January Jones, mostly because I don't really know anything about her anyway.

  • I don't get odd month names (April, May/Mae, June are not odd), so I'd think it was odd to hear a girl named January.  I'd also think you were a pretty big January Jones fan.

    I love it very classy

How is January classy?  I would not want to be saddled with the name January. I would go for Juliana.

  • Thanks for the input everyone.  Even with so many people saying they hate it, I still really like it.  I'll keep it on our short list for now.

  • I'm not into the "months" names, but I wouldn't side eye it. It automatically makes me think of January Jones though.
